How this estimate works
Your expected contribution is a percentage of your household income, set by the IRS for 2027 (Rev. Proc. 2026-26) and based on where your income falls compared with the 2026 federal poverty guideline: $15,960 for one person plus $5,680 for each additional person in the 48 states and D.C. The premium tax credit is the benchmark premium minus that contribution. Households above 400% of poverty do not qualify for the credit under the current rules. Actual credits are reconciled on your tax return, and state programs may offer extra help.
